We’re always trying to think of ways to make power management easier and more intuitive. Those were our original design goals when we created Granola Personal, and it resonated well – we had over 100,000 downloads in the first 100 days. Now that we’ve gotten the Granola Enterprise clients (and thus the relevant data) where we want them, we are approaching enterprise power management with the same aims.
Over the last week, we released several changes to the Granola Dash. Notably, we made it possible to filter your Energy Footprint by group if you are an Insight user, we added customized workday filtering so you can tailor the views to your usage, we moved the savings information from the Executive view into the Footprint view (and removed the Executive view in the process), and we greatly simplified the information on the Energy Footprint page, distilling it to what we thought was the most actionable information. Your Dash may look different than mine depending on your licenses, but here is the new layout:
Perhaps the most important change, though, is the new personalized waste information, the middle column in the new view. This column is where you can find information regarding problems about your IT energy consumption and ways to fix them. Currently, this includes two pieces of information: machines and monitors on at night and during the weekends, and an estimate of what they are costing you.
As we move forward, keep an eye on this column. Though it is pretty simple so far, we plan on making it smarter and more useful, and ultimately making enterprise power management as easy as it can be. As always, if you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact us.
